CENSOR ©
One of the hottest streetwear brands, Brands in general in Atlanta. And first off I want to start off with how did y'all meet?

NAYARI (DOSATL)
Basketball? Fifth grade, fifth grade basketball.

COREY (DOSATL)
Yeah so I can't even remember that was like 2011? 2010? Yeah, just playing basketball. AAU

CENSOR ©
Are ya'll both from Atlanta?

NAYARI (DOSATL)
Nah I went to Marietta, He went to North Cobb.

CENSOR ©
So y'all both from Georgia, but just not Atlanta.

COREY (DOSATL)
Yeah we really just from the Cobb area.

CENSOR ©
Has fashion always been some y'all bonded over or did it start off as basketball.

NAYARI (DOSATL)
It was Basketball, and we both just had a lot of shoes.

COREY (DOSATL)
Back then, you know, just young just wanting a bunch of shoes and everything, all the basketball kicks and everything. And then I guess just over time, it just grew into just more clothes and fashion and everything.

CENSOR ©
So what did ya'll wear a lot of growing up, What was some of your favorite brands.

NAYARI (DOSATL)
I used to wear like Nike, Abercrombie and Fitch.

COREY (DOSATL)
And like those Adidas pants, three strike track pants

NAYARI (DOSATL)
We just had all the shoes, I don't even know what we was wearing to be honest (laughing)

CENSOR ©
So would you say ya'll were two of the best dressed in your high schools?

NAYARI (DOSATL)
Oh yeah. Definetly Top five.

COREY (DOSATL)
I actually won best dressed. Always had that on.

CENSOR ©
So fashion has always been important to both yall.

NAYARI (DOSATL)
Yeah. Can't come out the house looking any type of way.

CENSOR ©
What year did y'all come up with the idea to start a clothing brand together?

NAYARI (DOSATL)
We started our resale business in 2020 and then that transitioned to a brand in 2021.

COREY (DOSATL)
Yeah, we started off with DOScloset. We was just selling stuff out of our closet, either stuff that was gently worn, maybe something we never wore, you know, Dunks, Jordans, Bape, you know all that. And then about six, seven months later, January 2021, is when we started our own brand, which worked good for us.

CENSOR ©
How was the conversation when it came to be like, " yeah we're gonna start reselling"?

NAYARI (DOSATL)
We just had clothes... Fall 2019 yeah, that's when I started like just selling clothes. I use to go to RAG-O-RAMA and be reselling.

CENSOR ©
So what made y'all want to transition from just being resellers to like, Fuck it let's do a brand forreal.

NAYARI (DOSATL)
We just wanted our own clothes. We already had all the other brands.

CENSOR ©
How did the design and name for DOS come to be.

NAYARI (DOSATL)
I used to hoop in high school. I wore number two so people use to call me Dos, and then I just always knew him (pointing to Corey). So we started doing a resell thing and it just transitioned. As far as the name, it stands for Don't Overthink Style.

COREY (DOSATL)
And it's 2 of us (laughing)

CENSOR ©
So when did y'all start seeing the growth? Y'all said y'all transition fall 2020? 2019? When did y'all start seeing your brand like go crazy. I see NBA players wear it now.

NAYARI (DOSATL)
I feel like mid 2022.

COREY (DOSATL)
Yeah that was when it started going crazy for real. But I mean even like from the jump you know, it was actually posted on the NBA page. Like our very first sweatsuit, Dos Closet University with the snake on it, Our very first sweatsuit that an NBA team had posted. Shout out to our boy Ashton.

CENSOR ©
What was ya'll reaction to that?

NAYARI (DOSATL)
We was like that's lit because that was his first year in the league I think. On the Timberwolves.

COREY (DOSATL)
Then also our boy Devin he also wore that same sweatsuit in our actual color that we really dropped, the other one was just a sample, but we dropped it in blue and he wore that for the Spurs so shout out to him.

CENSOR ©
So what influences yall style? Is it music or any type of other designers?

NAYARI (DOSATL)
I really just like baggy clothes. Pharrell really like the best designer, so I really look at what he wear and what he popped off in back in the day.

CENSOR ©
So you hated the early 2010s when it was all tight jeans and khaki pants?

NAYARI (DOSATL)
I use to wear tight jeans, but I realized that's not me.

COREY (DOSATL)
Yeah, just the skinny jeans. I mean, everybody was really on it when it was a thing. But of course now the kind of baggier stuff is better now. And I mean, it just kind of looks better. It kind of just fits the fashion a little more, people like it to go over they shoes a certain way. It just looks better with the fit.

CENSOR ©
Do ya'll think ya'll have influence over the streetwear game in Atlanta right now.

NAYARI (DOSATL)
We did for sure. Probably still do. But last year is when we really noticed it with our sweatpants. But yeah, that was good for us. We're glad that people can actually look at that and try to do the same, or something different.

CENSOR ©
What was the inspiration behind the flare pants. That was like a brand new wave that I saw y'all kind of pop off with first.

COREY (DOSATL)
Really, the people before us that we really saw was gallery department. So, you know, that was really kind of where the idea came from.

NAYARI (DOSATL)
Yeah we just made colors they wasn't making, played with the color pillars in different ways.

CENSOR ©
So what piece are yall most proud of. What shocked y'all when y'all came up with it.

BOTH
It was the flares.

NAYARI (DOSATL)
It was crazy. It took over.

COREY (DOSATL)
Yeah that's literally our best selling item. Like still to this day.

CENSOR ©
Besides the clothing itself, what do you think is the biggest part of being a brand? Is it the image? Is it the business side of things? What do you think?

COREY (DOSATL)
Really just the management of it.

NAYARI (DOSATL)
It's not really one big thing, you got to be ready for everything.

COREY (DOSATL)
It's a brand but you know it's a business to, people gotta remember it's still a business, so you know everything just has to be done the correct way.

CENSOR ©
I know with having a brand a lot of people try to get free stuff. Do people yall know ask for free clothes?

NAYARI (DOSATL)
Of course. We used to it at this point, it's just gonna happen. Got to accept it.

CENSOR ©
Does anybody ever feel some type of way about ya'll saying no?

NAYARI (DOSATL)
I'm sure they do. Well not our personal friends, but like influencers and artists that ask for free stuff and we say we don't do promo.

COREY (DOSATL)
We definitely get a lot of that stuff in our DMS for sure, saying "I'm this or that on Tik Tok or Instagram", and then it's really not even worth that exchange, so it for us to really do that, you know, it's got to be somebody like big.
NAYARI (DOSATL)
You got to fit our brand. We're trying to expand as much as possible, but like, you gotta know how to dress.... You gotta have a certain, like, carry on yourself.

CENSOR ©
How'd ya'll get Kai Cenat, did he reach out to y'all.
NAYARI (DOSATL)
Just sent it to his P.O Box, this was like early 2022.

CENSOR ©
What was that like? What was the reaction to that?

COREY (DOSATL)
I remember I think we were looking at our phones. We were out somewhere and then I think a couple people DM'd us, they were like, Kai is wearing your stuff on Twitch right now. And we just both looked at it and you know he was wearing it, so we screenshotted it real quick. It was cool.

CENSOR ©
So y'all are cool with all the other designers and people starting up brands in Atlanta. Do you ever feel any type of competitiveness?

NAYARI (DOSATL)
We don't. We don't care what what they think of us or what others are doing.

COREY (DOSATL)
I mean Atlanta is small, but it's still big, though. So it's definitely enough people out here for sure that are willing to spend money. So it's really no need to compete it's definitely enough room and money for all of us, especially with the scammers and stuff out here, they got money to spend (laughing)

CENSOR ©
So what you're trying to accomplish in the year 2024?

NAYARI (DOSATL)
Elevate. Expand as much as possible, it's not really a goal because we don't know how high we're going to go, but we want to go to the top.

COREY (DOSATL)
Yeah, I'll say definitely just just scale up even more, just grow even bigger. You know get our stuff into more stores for sure. Yeah, just things like that. Really.

CENSOR ©
Well, thank you all for talking to me DOSATL.
